Cincinnati Animal CARE Relocates Dogs to Temporary Shelter

Cincinnati Animal Care is temporarily relocating its dogs to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts Records Center on Winton Road. This 31,000-square-foot facility will house over 100 dogs while renovations are underway at the Dane Avenue shelter. The move is expected to last until spring.

The county previously used the Winton Road location for paper record storage. However, with the shift to digital records, the space became available. Clerk of Courts Pavan Parikh explained that the county has been working for months to clear the space, relocating or disposing of records, dismantling shelving, and shredding over 640,000 pounds of paper. Some unused paper was even donated to Crayons to Computers.

While the dogs are temporarily housed at the Winton Road facility, cat operations will remain at the Dane Avenue location. Cincinnati Animal CARE plans to offer a full range of services at the temporary location, including dog adoptions, fostering opportunities, day trips, and volunteer programs.

Shelter Director Meaghan Colville expressed excitement about the future of operations at both locations. The renovations at Dane Avenue are expected to significantly enhance the shelter’s capabilities. Colville emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing excellent care for Hamilton County’s shelter animals during and after the transition.

Cincinnati Animal CARE’s temporary relocation to the Winton Road facility demonstrates the organization’s dedication to animal welfare while undergoing necessary renovations. The collaboration with the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts highlights the innovative use of available resources to support the community. The continued operation of cat services at the Dane Avenue location ensures comprehensive care for all animals in need.
