Tattoo Care Instructions

After getting a tattoo, proper care is crucial for healing and preventing complications. Following these instructions will help ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and lasts a lifetime.

Immediate Aftercare

Directly after your tattoo session, your body needs to replenish resources used during the process. Consume a protein-rich meal or snack.

Home Care Instructions

  • Moisturizing: Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, tattoo-specific ointment after each wash.

Day 3 – 2 Weeks

  • Washing: Reduce washing to 1-2 times daily with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap. Pat dry.
  • Moisturizing: Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, tattoo-specific ointment 2-4 times a day, or whenever your tattoo feels dry or itchy.

Important Don’ts

  • Avoid Harsh Products: Do not use products containing aloe vera, perfumes, antibacterial agents, or heavily scented lotions on your new tattoo.
  • No Scratching or Picking: Refrain from scratching or picking at your healing tattoo. Gently slap the area if it itches.
  • No Soaking: Avoid soaking your tattoo in baths, hot tubs, swimming pools, or during activities like Bikram yoga. Showering is permitted.
  • Keep it Clean: Protect your tattoo from dirt and germs. Avoid gardening or direct contact with animals.
  • Sun Protection: Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once fully healed, always apply a high-SPF sunscreen to protect the tattoo and its colors.

General Aftercare Tips

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water to aid the healing process.
  • Limit Alcohol: Reduce or avoid alcohol consumption while your tattoo heals.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean environment around your tattoo.

Seek Medical Advice

Consult a medical professional if you experience any signs of infection, such as:
